An Era Ends

On Sunday afternoon, 10,211 packed the arena formerly known as Worcester's Centrum Centre and watched the IceCats fall 2-1 to the visiting Manchester Monarchs. When the clock hit 0:00, the season, and the team, were gone...

Worcester, along with Saint John's, Newfoundland, are the latest teams from the once New England and Maritimes dominated American Hockey League, to close shop and move west. With the move comes much higher travel costs, and oftentimes, much lower attendance (just ask Milwaukee, Salt Lake City, and my favorite, Cleveland). Good luck, you're going to need it.
